I’ve often said that my father is the hardest working man that I ever met. While that’s true, I’m fortunate to say that I was surrounded by a lot of hard-working people when I was growing up. My mother and all of my grandparents also set a great example of how hard work and grit can pay off if you give them enough time.
We were a working, middle class family from Brooklyn who “moved up” to Glendale, Queens in the late 1970s. I was blessed to have the full support of everyone close to me as I attended Catholic elementary school, and earned scholarships to both high school and college. I still remember the days of having my dad wake me up at 4:30am to go delivery newspapers. Grinding it out was all I knew, and $30/week as a paperboy can go a long way when you’re a kid…
If I’m being honest, I’ll tell you that I didn’t originally intend to go into the financial service industry. My initial plan was to go to law school; but an instrumental class during my junior year at Fordham University, and then a chance encounter with a college acquaintance, helped pave my way into this career that has blessed me for over 30 years.
I’m proud to take that inherent strong work ethic, an immense curiosity, and the Jesuit spirit of being one of many “Men for Others” into my life and my service to our clients. Knowing that we make a positive impact on the lives of individuals, families, and closely-held businesses is the main reason why I enjoy going to work each day.
